At Hanson United Methodist Church we have something for everyone. One of our primary concerns is that everyone has an opportunity to grow spiritually and an opportunity to use their gifts to bless others. Below are some ways you can get involved at Hanson United Methodist.
Having a basic knowledge of the Bible is an important foundation for your child's faith development. They will develop that foundation during Sunday School each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. We have classes for all ages and a nursery for infants.
We think that kids learn a lot by watching adults worship. And we also know that kids can get restless during the sermon and other parts of the service that are directed especially for adults. So about half-way through the service we have a special children's message that is just for them. After that they are invited to either return to worship with their parents or go for a special time of fun, fellowship and worship. All grade school kids are invited to participate during the second half of the 11:00 a.m. service.
J.A.M. (Jesus and Me)
Every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. we have something extremely cool for kids. J.A.M. is a time of food, fellowship, fun games, music, and interactive lesson time. This exciting time will make your kids want to come and want to learn.
What do youth like to do? (Our guess, hang out, talk, and have fun.) We start out with a whole lot of that and then add some adults that care about kids, some meaningful conversations about Jesus and some food. If you can imagine that, you have a good idea of what Youth Fellowship is like. Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. We have several different adult Sunday school classes with their own style and focus. Come try it out.
Each Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. we have a Bible study for adults. There is a light meal provided at 5:15 before the study begins. Our pastor teaches this class. We study the meaning of the text and how it applies to our lives. Following Bible study, we go into small groups to explore the topic in more depth.
United Methodist Women (Mission Chicks)
The United Methodist Women's central focus is missions. They study missions, raise money, support missionaries and get involved in helping others through mission work. Take part in this vital ministry of our church. They meet on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
United Methodist Men
Meeting on the fourth Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m., the men eat together, pray together and raise money for missions.
Special or Short Term Programs
We also have other short term studies and special activities for the adults at all stages in their spiritual life.
Music is central to the worship experience at Hanson United Methodist Church. Our choir leads all of us as we worship in God's presence. They sing both contemporary and traditional worship music. You can be part of this important ministry. Join us as we lead worship this Sunday morning. Also, we will be presenting special programs several times this coming year. We practice together on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.
